Work it off on the water itself: paddleboard and kayak outfitters launch straight from the creek, and the marsh route out to Crab Bank sandbar is beginner-friendly at slack tide.

History within ten minutes

Patriots Point parks the USS Yorktown — a full WWII aircraft carrier — on the harbor's edge, an unmissable half-day with kids. North on Highway 17, Boone Hall Plantation's avenue of oaks is among the South's most photographed entrances, and its Gullah culture presentations give the beauty necessary context.
